PLOT TWISTS
YES! IT’S time for another InstaWrimo post, and today were talking about plot twists.
I don’t know about you, but I love a good plot twist. Some of them are easily spotted right away because of clever foreshadowing (or poor writing), but some really kick you in the gut.

My Sister’s Keeper was brough to screen in 2009 with Camron Diaz as the desperate mother of the two girls.
One of the best examples I can think of is, fittingly, written by an author renowned for her gut-wrenching stories, Jodi Picault. The book in question is My Sister’s Keeper.
Anna is 13 years old and she is her sister’s keeper. She was conceived for a specific purpose: To be a blood and organ donor for her older sister, who has leukemia and would die without her sister’s donations.
Bur Anna longs for bodily autonomy and freedom from the burden that has been placed on her shoulders. She decides to sue her parents for the rights to make the decisions that relate to her own body. Of course, this throws all sorts of spanners in the works, and we start to understand all the underlying motivations behind the state of affairs in this family.
I wasn’t too keen on the film, to be honest, but the book truly delves into questions regarding family and parenthood, and it made me consider what I would have done in the same situation.
As far as plot twists go, this one definitely deserves a place among the best. Maybe even more so because of the way it deals with a reality we all can relate to. We all have, or know someone who has, children and we can empathise with the pain of a family facing the death of a child. Even if we haven’t had to deal with that pain ourselves.
How about you, my friend.
