INGREDIENTS
- 8-10 apples
- 4 dl/360g caster or granulated sugar
- 2 dl water
- 2 tbsp golden syrup or glucose
- 1 tsp lemon juice
- Black food colouring
- Wooden sticks or skewers – twigs look really cool but must be properly cleaned and be safe. Not everything in nature is.
- Optional – plastic, or edible if you are brave, insects or spooky decorations
INSTRUCTIONS
- Wash and dry the apples, then remove the stems.
- Insert the wooden sticks into the top of each apple.
- In a saucepan, combine sugar, water, syrup, and lemon juice.
- Heat on medium-high heat, without stirring until the mixture reaches 150°C (300°F).
- Remove from stove and stir in black food colouring.
- Carefully dip each apple into the mixture – make sure it is well-coated.
- Place them on a parchment-lined tray and add your decorations if you have any.
- Leave them to cool and let the coating harden.
