Shadowhunter Chronicles: The Downworld is the realm of supernatural creatures and hybrids who have some degree of demon blood in them. They are generally part human and part demon, or afflicted with some kind of demon disease. This includes warlocks, vampires, fairies, werewolves and pretty much any creature from folklore and fairytales.

A downworlder is a creature from the Downworld. They have human souls and are thus considered members of the human race by the denizens of Heaven. Downworlders are policed and protected by the Shadowhunters, nephilim who are tasked with protecting humans from demons and keeping them oblivious to the Downworld.
