#11 ON MY BUCKET LIST

DAILY WRITING PROMPTS 3

THE 11th ITEM on my bucket list is actually something fitting for this blog. I want to get a rejection letter from a known publisher. Just one. I don’t have it in me to do the whole query trenches thing where you send your manuscripts out like little fishing hooks, hoping someone will bite and offer you a publishing contract.

I’ve been coaching writers for 35 years this year, and I’ve seen so many of them slowly give up on themselves and their dreams as the refusal letters have begun to pile up. It seems exhausting. I think for me, it makes more sense to just keep writing and posting my stories online. Or, possibly, to consider publishing them myself. But that is a problem for another day, as i don’t have anything ready for the printing press yet.

One refusal letter. Just one. That’ll do me.
