NEW YEARS RESOLUTIONS
DAILY WRITING PROMPTS 2
THE ANSWER IS YES. New Year’s Resolutions are my thing. I’ve been writing mine in the (very) early morning hours on the first day of the year for as long as I can remember. And with one exception, I have kept them all.
There have been years where, for whatever reason, I’ve not completed a resolution. When that’s been the case, I’ve just put the same goal down on the list for the following year. Once a goal is set, I will not back away from it until it’s done. Unless I am forced, or have a very good reason, to abandon it that is.
In 2020, my goal was to set the sails on The Resilience, my imaginary pirate ship, and start the blogging adventure I had planned for quite some time. But then COVID happened, and I had to go into self-isolation for health reasons. I thought I’d be able to keep going anyway, but no such luck.
No matter how hard I tried, I was struggling to keep my head free from thoughts of what was going on outside my home. It came to a point where I realised I had to switch the phone and social media off, and do something completely different. Or at least kinda different.
I swapped non-fiction blog posts and social interactions for total immersion into the fantasy realm and my Ulfrheim saga. I’m still working on it, but it’s an original dystopian-mundane fantasy-magical realism kind of story, set in an alternative universe. Or, perhaps, in an alternative timeline.
Now, before I go:
